Understanding packages
Often people want to save the documents they browse on their computers to be
able to access them later offline.
This task is successfully accomplished with Ad Annihilator (see
Understanding offline browsing).
However, people want to be able to hand over these documents to other people,
transfer them to another computer or save them in archive for later access. This
is achieved with Ad Annihilator, too!
There are two ways to share web documents
offline:
-
Ad Annihilator projects
for sharing of all files browsed by users and filters and organizer links as
well. See Understanding projects for
more information;
-
Ad Annihilator packages for sharing of only certain offline
documents.
Ad Annihilator package is a file storing multiple offline
documents in it. You are able to create (export) packages in Ad Annihilator
running on a single computer with a single
project and then import them back to Ad Annihilator running on another
computer or with another project. This
way you are able to transfer documents between computers and
projects easily. You may create as many
packages as you wish and share them with your friends or build your own document
archive.
Note that Ad Annihilator package is a compressed file so it is
usually useless to compress it once more with archiving software. Ad Annihilator
package is already optimized for transfer or archiving!
Physically, Ad Annihilator package is a
single file with ,aak extension appended to package name you have chosen.
See How to work with
packages? for information on package-related tasks.
