Search tab
This tab is shown in Documents,
Organizer and Search window and allows you to search for the documents and
resources in Ad Annihilator cache.
Search may be performed by a number of parameters: address, size, date, text and
some others.
There are following criteria by which search could be done:
-
"Address" - mask for Internet address (URL) of the document or
resource including protocol part (http:// or https://). See
Understanding masks for information on mask syntax. For
example, to search for all documents on adannihilator.com site, enter "*adannihilator.com*"
mask here. If this field is left empty, documents with any addresses are sought
for.
If "Add wildcards automatically" option is checked, Ad Annihilator will add
* mask symbols automatically to the start and end of the mask
before search so that you do not have to type them manually. In the example
above, if this option was checked, it would be sufficient to enter only "adannihilator.com"
to search for all documents containing this phrase in their address. If we
enter "adannihilator.com" and uncheck this option, Ad Annihilator will
search for "adannihilator.com" document and find nothing as
protocol part is missing. To make it search exactly for "adannihilator.com"
document (home page of Ad Annihilator site), we would have to type "http://adannihilator.com"
and uncheck this option. Note that this option applies to Text criteria as well;
-
"Text" - full-text search expression for the content of the
documents or resources. This field turns Ad Annihilator in your own offline
search engine that is able to find documents in the
cache by their content. See
Understanding full-text
search expressions to learn about expression syntax and full-text search
capabilities. If this field is left empty, documents content is not analyzed
when searching.
If "Add wildcards automatically" option is checked, Ad Annihilator will add
* mask symbols automatically to the start and end of each word
in the expression before search. This facilitates your expression entry in case
you want to search not for exact words but for words that contain certain
sequences of characters within them;
-
"Search for" - kinds of resources to search for. There are
following choices available:
-
Documents - search for documents. Documents are primary pages you visit
when browsing;
-

stylesheets, etc. that are downloaded altogether with documents;

<TITLE> HTML tag). Other document content is skipped during search;
- "Search in scripts and tags as well" - makes Ad
Annihilator to search for text not only in
document visible text but in page scripts and inside HTML tags as
well. This is useful for web developers to search for certain scripts and
specific tag data;

and resources that must be found. Search through large number of documents and
resources may take some time, and this option limits it by number of
found documents. If this field is left empty, all found documents are
returned;

name.
After you entered search criteria, press Go button to
start search. Search window will open showing search progress. When search is
