How to unblock popups?

By default Ad Annihilator blocks all popups. When a popup is blocked, Ad Annihilator shows a small temporary window near Ad Annihilator toolbar with a hint telling "Popup disabled" like this:

This window provides visual hint when a popup is blocked to warn you about presence of blocked popups. You may setup audible hint as well in Popup killer tab of Ad Annihilator Options window.

However, sometimes it is needed to enable certain popups or open an already blocked popup. Ad Annihilator offers several ways to do this.

Temporary enabling of popups

To enable a popup temporarily simply press Shift key. All popups that try to open while you press Shift key are allowed to appear. You may use this to enable certain popups temporarily when you want to open them only at this time. After you release Shift key, popups are blocked as usual.

Opening of already blocked popups

There are two ways to open a popup after it was blocked:

  1. Click "Open blocked popup windows" button on Ad Annihilator toolbar and select the popup you want to open from the list.
    OR
  2. Open Popup windows window, right-click the popup you want to open and select "Open popup".

Note that next time this popup tries to open, it will be blocked again. To avoid this you must also enable the popup window either before you open the blocked popup or after opening. These methods are described below.

Opening and enabling of already blocked popups

The ways to open and enable a popup after it was blocked are very similar:

  1. Click "Open blocked popup windows" button on Ad Annihilator toolbar and select the popup you want to open from the list while pressing Ctrl key.
    OR
  2. Open Popup windows window, right-click the popup you want to open and select "Unblock this popup".

After this operation the blocked popup is enabled for opening at future browsing. This way popups that you deem useful avoid blocking. To open a blocked popup after this use methods set out above.

Enabling of blocked but opened popups

After you opened a blocked popup manually using guidelines set out above, you may wish to enable this popup for future browsing so that it is never blocked by Ad Annihilator.

There are three basic ways to enable a blocked but opened popup:

  1. Select the popup window the mouse (bring it to front) and press Ctrl-Alt-R on the keyboard
    OR
  2. Select "Unblock this popup" from system menu of the browser popup window. See Ad Annihilator options in browser system menu for information on how to access system menu
    OR
  3. Right-click the popup window with the mouse and select "Unblock this popup" from the context menu. Note that some popups disable context menus, so the previous methods are preferred.

Ways to unblock popups for advanced users

Popup windows may be also unblocked by direct manipulation with popup filters. See How to block popups? for more information.
