How to block popups?

Like with banners blocking popups in Ad Annihilator is very easy. The main paradigm behind the Ad Annihilator popup blocking process is:

All popups are blocked automatically by default.

The only exception to this rule is popups that open in response to your action, for example, when you click a link or press a button supposed to open a popup window. Ad Annihilator detects such cases and enables these popups for you so that you have no troubles in enabling them.

But sometimes you need to enable another kind of popups or open an already blocked popup. See How to unblock popups? for information on how to do this.

This section details how to block a popup that is already opened using popup unblocking mechanism. The main guideline here is:

Point at the popup window and tell Ad Annihilator to block it.

Ad Annihilator combines both easy-to-use and advanced methods for popup blocking. They are detailed further.

Easy and simple ways to block a popup

There are three basic ways to tell Ad Annihilator to block a popup:

1. Select the popup window with the mouse (bring it to front) and press Ctrl-Alt-K on the keyboard
   OR
2. Select "Block this popup" from system menu of the browser popup window. See Ad Annihilator options in browser system menu for information on how to access system menu
   OR
3. Right-click the popup window with the mouse and select "Block this popup" from the context menu. Note that some popups disable context menus, so the previous methods are preferred.

You may also press Shift button altogether with this to see Popup Block window first. Using this dialog you may fine-tune the popup blocking but this step is optional.
