Documents tab
This tab is shown in Documents,
Organizer and Search window and displays the list of all documents stored in
Ad Annihilator cache. All
documents are categorized by sites they came from. On this picture

three documents are shown: two (under NYTIMES node) belongs to the site nytimes.com and one (under
YAHOO node)
to the site yahoo.com. Other site nodes are collapsed; to expand them click on
the small plus sign near the site name. On contrary, to collapse the list of
documents for the given site, click on the small minus sign near the site name.
A single document on the picture (The New York Times on the Web) has three versions: from 03/12/2004,
03/15/2004, and 03/17/2004 dates; versions are shown as a subnodes of the main
node. The main node here corresponds to the
latest version of the document
while the subnodes - to fixed
document versions. Double-clicking the version opens this document version
in the browser.
To learn more about document versions see
Understanding document versions.
To open a document from the list in the browser double-click it. If you hold
Shift key while double-clicking the selected document(s), they will be opened in new browser
windows. Other document-related operations are available in the
Documents tab toolbar and
Documents tab context menu. To select a
document use left mouse button. If you need to select multiple documents hold
Shift or Ctrl key while selecting documents. Shift key allows you to select the
documents contiguous in the list while Ctrl key allows selection of various
documents scattered across the list. You may combine selection with both these
keys in turn to select complex set of documents.
To browse documents from the cache
offline, turn on "Download from cache if available"
or "Download from cache only (offline mode)" browsing modes. See How to switch between
browsing modes? to learn how to change browsing mode.
Documents tab toolbar
The Documents tab toolbar is shown at the top of the Documents tab:

Following buttons are available on the toolbar:
-
"Open document" - opens the currently selected
document in the current browser;
-
"Duplicate on disk" - saves the currently selected
documents to the disk as a set of files. This feature is similar to the Save
command of Internet Explorer but is more powerful. First, it allows you to
duplicate on the disk much greater set of documents than Internet Explorer.
Next, multiple documents can be processed in a batch. If multiple documents
are duplicated, Ad Annihilator creates a special index document with a link to
each duplicated document to facilitate access to documents on the disk.
This command prompts for the file name to which the link to the document(s)
will be saved. The command creates the file named so as well as an auxiliary
folder with actual document files named after the file name with "_files"
appended. For example, if you chose "mydoc.htm" as a file name, the file
mydoc.htm and folder mydoc_files will be created. To copy duplicated documents
elsewhere you should copy this file and folder as well;
-
"Open document list" - does the same as similar option in
Documents tab context menu;
-
"Delete" - deletes the currently selected documents
from the Ad Annihilator cache.
Be careful with this command as it deletes documents permanently, and you'll
have to download them from the Internet again to access them (if they could be
accessed from there at later time at all!);
-
"Properties" -
if a document is selected, shows
Document
properties window with information on the document. If a site is selected,
shows Document host properties
window with detailed information on the site;
-
"View" button - switches between two document sort
modes: by text (document name) and by date. Use the former mode to locate
documents in the list by their names and the latter in cases when you do not
remember the document name, but remember the date when you visited the site
containing that document. When documents are sorted by date, a document date
is prefixed to document name in the list. Clicking on the button itself
switches the sorting mode to the opposite. Clicking on the small arrow to the
right of the button opens the list of sorting modes from which you can select
a mode.
Documents tab context menu
Documents tab context menu is shown when you right-click a document or a site
in the Documents tab:

Use Documents tab context menu to perform document- or site-specific
operations. Following options are available:

"Open in new window" - opens the currently selected

version of the document opened in the browser. Note that this command loses
the current version of the
document but
creates a new up-to-date version of the document. Use this command only if you
want to discard the current version but to download and fix the new version. For more information on document versioning tasks refer to
How to manage document versions?
To learn more about document versions see

to the document to clipboard. You may later paste this link in Windows
Explorer or onto the desktop to get a direct shortcut to this document for
quick access;
