Banner filters tab
This tab is shown in Filters window and allows you to
setup
banner filters. See
Understanding banner filters for
background information on banner filters. See
How to block banners? and How to unblock
banners? to learn more about banner blocking and unblocking and other ways of
banner filters management.
See Understanding banner filters
for interpretation of banner filters window look. To expand or
collapse a filter or a host click small plus or minus sign near its
name. To view filter properties in Banner filter item properties
window or host properties in Host properties window double-click
it.
To select
filters and hosts use the same technique as for Documents tab.
Legend
The following icons are used for filter and host nodes in the filter tree:
-
Disabling (reject) filter;
-
Enabling (accept) filter;
-
Host with third-party resource blocking turned off;
-
Host with third-party resource blocking turned on;
-
Disabled filter. Disabled filters and nodes are shown
grayed as well.
Moving filters
To move filters or hosts within the filter tree to change their priority you
may drag them to a new position. To enable dragging the filter tree should be
sorted by priority. When you drop filters at a new location
on another filter or host, you will be asked to make the following choice:

-
"Move above this filter" - choose this to move the filters
above the filter or host you dropped them on. The moved filters will have a
greater priority than the filter you dropped it on;
-
"Move below this filter" - choose this to move the filters
below the filter or host you dropped them on. The moved filters will have a lower
priority than the filter you dropped it on;
-
"Add a subfilter" - choose this to move the filter under the
filter or host you dropped it on. The moved filters will be processed only after
the filter you dropped it on matches.
See Understanding
banner filters for more information on filter priority and processing.
Other ways to move filters include using "Increase priority" and "Decrease
priority" buttons on Banner filters tab toolbar
and Cut, Copy and Paste commands of Banner filters tab context menu.
Banner filters tab toolbar
The Banner filters tab toolbar is shown at the top of the Banner filters tab:

Following buttons are available on the toolbar:
-
"New filter" - opens
Banner
filter item properties window where you can enter a new filter node. New
filter is added as a subfilter to the currently selected filter or host. If no
or multiple filters or hosts are selected, new filter is added to the top
filter level;
-
"New host" - opens
Host
properties window where you can enter a new host node. Host node is added
always at the top level;
-
"Delete" - deletes selected filters and hosts;
-
"Increase
priority" - moves the filter or host up the filter tree so that it is
processed earlier than filters below it. This command is available only if
filter tree is sorted by priority. See
Understanding banner filters for
more information on filters processing. Another way to increase priority is to
drag the filter above;
-
"Decrease priority" - moves the filter or host
below the filter tree so that it is processed later than filters above it.
This command is available only if filter tree is sorted by
priority. See Understanding
banner filters for more information on filters processing. Another way to
decrease priority is to drag the filter below;
-
"Properties" - opens
Banner filter item
properties window or Host properties window for the
currently selected filter or host respectively. In those windows you can edit
a filter or a host;
-
"Block third-party resources" - turns on or off
global "Block third-party resources" flag. See
Understanding banner filters for more information;
-
"Enable/disable filters" - does the same as "Enable
banner stopper (block banners as specified by filters)" option in
Banner stopper tab;
-
"Refresh banners automatically" - does the same as
"Refresh affected banners on the page after filter change" option in
Banner stopper tab.
Banner filters tab context menu
Banner tab context menu is shown when you right-click a filter or a host
in the Banner filters tab:

Use Banner filters tab context menu to perform filter- or host-specific
operations. Following options are available:
-
"New filter" - does the same as "New filter"
button on Banner filters tab toolbar;
-
"New host" - does the same as "New host" button
on Banner filters tab toolbar;
-
"Enable/disable filters" - does the same as "Enable
banner stopper (block banners as specified by filters)" option in
Banner stopper tab;
-
"Enable filter node" - enables or disables selected filter
and host nodes. This command switches "Enabled" option available in
Banner filter item properties window or
Host
properties window for the selected filters and hosts to the opposite
value. The filters or nodes that were enabled become disabled and vice versa.
The checkmark near this option shows this option state for the current filter
or host. This option state for filters is also shown by special icon (see
Legend);
-
"Block third-party resources" - does the same as
similar option in Banner filters tab toolbar;
-
"Refresh banners automatically" - does the same as
"Refresh affected banners on the page after filter change" option in
Banner stopper tab;
-
"Sort by" - switches the filter tree sort mode. There are two options:
-
"Priority" - sorts the filter tree by filter
evaluation priority. In this mode the filters are shown in the same order as
they are evaluated as set out in Understanding
banner filters. This is preferred sorting mode as you can
move filters in this mode to change their priority;
-
"Name" - sorts the tree by Address field of the filter or
Host field of the host
node. Use this mode to find a filter or a host by its address. Note that
filter moving is not supported in this sorting
mode;
-
"Increase
priority" - does the same as similar button on
Banner filters tab toolbar;
-
"Decrease priority" - does the same as similar button on
Banner filters tab toolbar;
-
"Cut" - removes the selected filters or
hosts into clipboard. Actual removal occurs only when you
paste the filters in another location;
-
"Copy" - copies the selected filters or
hosts into clipboard so that they may be pasted later in
another tree location;
-
"Paste" - pastes the filters or hosts
from the clipboard that were cut or copied
there previously. When pasting, you will be asked the same question as for
filter moving;
-
"Delete" - does the same as similar button on Banner filters tab toolbar;
-
"Properties" - does the same as similar button on Banner filters tab toolbar.
